
Woodcroft Wildspace – Havilands Staff Volunteer – 08.06.16
13th May, 2016Havilands’ newest team member, Charlie Yazgan, has been volunteering with the Education Team down at Woodcroft Wildspace, an environmental education hidden gem in the heart of Winchmore Hill.
Charlie was responsible for a group of Year 4 children from West Grove Primary School, Southgate, based in the Meadow Area. The activity covered key stage 2 – All living things – Object : to identify and name variety of living things using ways of classifying. Comment on changing environment. Focus on insects, search grass heap, under logs, ant hill, under stones etc. Size, number of legs, colour, markings. Identify and collect. Structure of plants – roots, stem, leaves, flowers – what are each part for? How do flowers form seeds – ollination, seed formation and dispersal.
